Gate of Opportunity Scholars are chosen through a competitive application and interview process.
To be eligible for consideration, interested high school seniors should complete the following steps:
- Apply for freshman admission and be admitted to Berry College by the appropriate deadline for your preferred application type (link).
- Submit the Common Scholarship Application, which is available online by logging into Viking Web. The priority deadline is Monday, February 1, 2016 at 11:59pm ET.
- Complete the 2016-17 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and have the official results sent to Berry College by Monday, February 1, 2016*. Berry College’s Title IV code is 001554.
* Please note, families who are not able to file the FAFSA with 2015 tax information by the deadline may file the 2016-17 FAFSA using 2014 tax information to meet the Gate of Opportunity deadline. Families may also chose to submit the CSS/Financial Aid PROFILE (available for a fee through College Board) to meet the Gate of Opportunity deadline. Families who take advantage of either option must still submit the official 2016-17 FASFA results using 2015 tax information by late March 2016 in order to be eligible for Gate of Opportunity consideration.
A selection committee will review complete applications and select students to participate in an interview process. We will notify all applicants in early March (by email) if they have been selected to interview or not.
Interviews will be held on the Berry College campus on Saturday, March 19, 2016 and Saturday, April 2, 2016. Invited students will be asked to register for and attend one of these interview days in its entirety.
Up to 10 students will be selected from the interview process and offered the Gate of Opportunity Scholarship as incoming freshmen. All interview candidates will be notified by mid-April 2015 if they have been selected or not.
Selected students will have until May 1, 2016 to accept the Gate of Opportunity Scholarship offer and pay the enrollment deposit to attend Berry College.
