Gate of Opportunity Scholars are chosen through a competitive application and interview process.

To be eligible for consideration, interested high school seniors should complete the following steps:

  1. Apply for freshman admission and be admitted to Berry College before February 1, 2014.
  2. Submit the Gate of Opportunity Scholarship Application for freshman candidates by Wednesday, February 5, 2014.
  3. Complete the 2014-15 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and have the official results sent to Berry College by Wednesday, February 5, 2014*. Berry College’s Title IV code is 001554.

* Please note, families who are not able to file the FAFSA with 2013 tax information by the deadline may file the 2014-15 FAFSA using 2012 tax information to meet the Gate of Opportunity deadline. Families who use this option should update their 2014-15 FAFSA results with 2013 tax information by late March 2014 (for students who have completed the interview process).

A selection committee will review complete applications and select students to participate in the interview process. We will notify all applicants in mid-February (by email) if they have been selected to interview or not.

Interviews will be held on the Berry College campus on Saturday, March 1,2014 and Saturday, March 15, 2014. Invited students will be asked to register for and attend one of these interview days in its entirety.

Up to 20 students will be selected from the interview process and offered the Gate of Opportunity Scholarship as incoming freshmen. All interview candidates will be notified in early April 2014 if they have been selected or not.

Selected students will have through Thursday, May 1, 2014  to accept the Gate of Opportunity Scholarship offer and pay the deposit to attend Berry College.
