History Environment

History + The Environment

Students major in History; minor in Environmental Studies, Biology, or Geology; and demonstrate competency in Geographic Information Systems (GIS).  History + The Environment prepares students for careers in environmental compliance, environmental services and monitoring, water and agricultural monitoring and research, and conservation and sustainability services.

  • Major in History (36 hours)
    • Including HIS 303: Environmental History – exploration of the environment’s role in history
  • Minor in Environmental Studies (19 hours), Biology (19 hours), or Geology (18 hours).
    • EVS 220: Introduction to Geographic Information Systems
    • HIS 402: History + X (1 hour)
    • Optional; Work on campus in agricultural administration, environmental compliance and sustainability, or land resources.
