History + Gender

History + Gender


Students major in History; minor in Women’s and Gender Studies, and either study abroad or complete an internship with an organization that focuses on women’s issues.  Prepares students to work in women’s and children’s services, non-profit groups involved in fundraising, philanthropy, and volunteer coordination, domestic violence advocacy, community outreach, and public affairs.

Requirements

  • Required History Courses (36 hours), including HIS 375 US Women’s History;
  • Complete HIS 402 History + X (1 hour);
  • Complete either study abroad or internship involving women’s or gender issues (STA 305 or HIS 496 or WNS 496: 3 hours)*;
  • Minor in Women’s and Gender Studies (18 hours).

* may be taken as part of requirements for History Major in or Women’s/Gender Studies Minor
