Welcome Center and entry enhancement
Berry is a destination – an educational, historical, cultural and recreational destination. Summer campers, hikers, bikers, photographers, nature lovers and history buffs all join students, prospective students, alumni, parents, local residents and other friends in enjoying Berry’s beautiful and bountiful resources. We needed a campus entry that was both more welcoming and more secure.
Both of these goals were accomplished in Spring 2015 with the completion of
a new campus Welcome Center to replace the 1960s era gate house built at the
same time as Berry’s main administration
building, Hermann Hall. The new facility is staffed by campus police as well as
student hosts. A sophisticated electronic security system allows faculty, staff
and student vehicles with decals to pass but requires visitors to stop and
check in under a covered portico. Significant improvements are still to come
for Hermann Hall’s parking and entrance facilities and the aesthetics of the
main access road.
Fundraising continues for this strategic priority.
