For more than a century, Berry has emphasized meaningful work experience as a key component of its educational experience. Today, the nation’s premier on-campus Work Experience Program guarantees all students a paid, on-campus work position every semester, regardless of academic major or financial situation. There are more than 300 different types of jobs available. Though participation in the program is voluntary, more than 90 percent of Berry students choose to work on campus at some point during their academic careers.

In July 2009, Berry was accepted as a provisional member of NCAA Division III. At this time, the college holds dual membership in both the NCAA and the NAIA. Berry teams continue to compete in the NAIA’s Southern States Athletic Conference, though they are ineligible for postseason play due to the pending move to the NCAA. Conference affiliation in the NCAA has yet to be determined. With the addition of women’s softball and men’s and women’s swimming and diving, Berry now offers varsity competition in 16 different sports. These include basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, tennis, and swimming and diving for men and women; baseball for men; and volleyball, equestrian and softball for women. Men’s and women’s lacrosse will be added in 2010-11.
