Student Organization Descriptions (as of Fall 2008)
| Allied Health Professionals | The purpose of this club is to support students interested in pursuing health-related careers and to serve as a forum for discussion on health issues. |
| Alpha Psi Omega – Kappa Alpha Chapter | This national honorary dramatics fraternity recognizes achievement in the field of drama. |
| Alpha Zeta | Its purposes are to foster high standards of scholarship, character, leadership and a spirit of fellowship among members of this honor society and to promote the profession of agriculture on campus and in the community. |
| Alternate Realities Club | This organization provides an introduction and forum for those interested in science fiction, fantasy and animation, as well as an opportunity to educate the Berry Community about these topics. |
| American Chemical Society (ACS) | The purpose of this chapter is to instill a professional pride in chemistry and chemical engineering and to foster an awareness of the responsibilities and challenges of the modern chemist. |
| Amnesty International | This organization is an international non-governmental organization that strives to educate its members and the wider community through the promotion of awareness of human rights issues. |
| Art Society | The Art Society promotes artistic interests, channels art into educational and recreational activities at Berry, and creates awareness in the Berry community of art related events both on and off campus. |
| Astronomical Society | The purpose of this club is to provide students with the opportunity for observing the heavens and interstellar phenomena and educating the general public on local astronomical events. |
| Athletes Bettering the Community (ABC) | The purpose of ABC is to encourage athletes, other students, faculty and staff to promote the Berry motto “Not to be ministered unto, but to minister” by participation in community service activities. |
| Ballroom Dancing | This organization works to increase awareness of ballroom dancing, to teach basic ballroom dancing skills, and to provide a way for interested students to get together and dance regularly. |
| Baptist Collegiate Ministry (BCM) | The purpose of BCM is to involve students in a college life that exemplifies the Christian understanding of the responsibility of a life with Christ. Membership is interdenominational. |

The purpose of this organization is to develop business leadership, create interest and understanding of accounting occupations, and to improve scholarship. Membership is open to students planning to major or minor in accounting. |
| Berry Association of Marketers (BAM) | The purpose of BAM is to promote research, understanding, and career interests in the area of marketing. |
| The Theatre Company provides practical experience, both onstage and backstage, in a variety of theatrical activities and exposes students of the entire college community to live theatre as a cultural force by presenting plays of different historical styles. | |
| Berry Film Club (BFC) | The purpose of BFC is to connect filmmakers on campus together; to resurrect the interest in independent films; to educate the Berry community on the art of filmmaking; and to promote the overall interest of films on campus. |
| Berry Investment Group (BIG) | This group provides opportunities for students to learn investment practices and become familiar with the stock market. |
Berry Motor Works (BMW) |
Berry Motor Works exists to gather fellow automobile enthusiasts together to further knowledge and experience in/of automotive related fields. |
| Berry Student Nurses (BSN) | BSN works promote the nursing program at Berry; to bring together students interested in nursing in order to learn about the Dual-Degree program; and explore areas of interest within nursing. |
| Biology Club | This organization is open to all students who are interested in biological activities and projects. |
| Black Student Alliance (BSA) | The purpose of this organization is to unite all black students at Berry College for the academic and social integration of black culture into the environment of this institution for the benefit of all students |
| The purpose of this organization is to promote a higher scholastic standard among the students of Animal Science, to promote Animal Science work in colleges and universities, and to bring about a closer relationship among all students pursuing some phase of Animal Science as a profession or interest. | |
| Cabin Log | The Cabin Log is the college’s yearbook, which is designed by a student staff and distributed each fall. |
| Campus Carrier | The College’s student newspaper, the Campus Carrier, is distributed every Thursday and contains various stories and features about campus issues and events. |
| Campus Outreach Ministry | Campus Outreach is a campus-wide organization with the purpose of teaching the claims of the Bible and having a positive effect on the campus life at Berry College. |
| The purpose of this organization is to provide an organized union of Episcopalians in the Berry College community. This organization provides regular opportunities for worship and the Holy Eucharist in conjunction with relevant education and social programs and activities. | |
| Catholic Students Association (CSA) | The purpose of this organization is to create a more organized union of Catholic students in the Berry community. This organization shall provide an increasing awareness of the Catholic Church and opportunities for non-Catholics to become educated about Catholicism. |
Chess Club |
The Chess Club exists to provide opportunities for technical study of the game, as well as the study of the history of chess; to increase awareness and appreciation of chess at Berry; and to organize and coordinate both casual and competitive play. |
| Churchill Society | Berry College seeks a holistic, integrated education for its students, which, when combined with its Southern heritage, is consistent with the cultivation of taste, refinement, and culture. The Churchill Society is a social club where students can gather to explore aspects of fine living. All possible topics must be consistent with the rules of Berry College (ex., wine tasting would be prohibited). |
| Circle K | Sponsored through the Kiwanis Club, Circle K’s purposes are to emphasize the advantages of the democratic way of life; provide opportunities for leadership training in service; serve the campus and community through participation in activities; promote good fellowship and high scholarship; and to develop citizenship and the spirit of service for improvement of all human relationships. |
Club Soccer |
This club sport provides a non-varsity platform for men to travel and compete in soccer against other college and university club teams. |
| College Republicans | The purpose of the club shall be to make known and promote the principles of the Republican Party among the students of Berry College and to recruit Berry students as members of the club and as members of the Republican Party. |
| Colleges Against Cancer (CAC) | CAC chapter organization is a nationwide collaboration of college students, faculty, and staff dedicated to eliminating cancer by initiating and supporting programs of the American Cancer Society in college communities. |
| Computer Club | The purpose of this organization is to instill a greater understanding of the computer and its many applications and, when possible, to aid students undertaking a course in the area of Computer Science. |
| Delta Epsilon Chi (DEX) | DEX is the college version of the National DECA, which provides students the opportunity to be involved in a professional organization where they may practice skills learned in the classroom by applying them to real-world business situations and experiences. The conferences and events held will also help to develop a greater sense of personal responsibility, leadership qualities and business ethics. |
EMPOWER – Educating Minds by Promotion of Women’s Equal Rights |
This organization strives to promote awareness of women’s issues on campus, to provide a support network for female students, and to be actively involved with relevant community programs. |
| Exaltation Christian Singers | This organization’s primary purpose is to glorify God through music and ministry. Membership is granted through an audition and interview process. |
| Executive Round Table (ERT) | The purpose of ERT is the identification, selection, and development of leaders from outstanding college students, distinguished faculty, and industry, business and professional individuals who are identified as significant leaders in the community. |
| Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) | The purposes of FCA are to coordinate activities designed to stimulate interest in athletics and Christianity, as well as provide an environment for developing fellowships, personal Christian growth, service opportunities and involvement in the church. |
| Forensics Union | The purpose of the Forensic Union is to promote intramural and intercollegiate speech-debate activities and to enhance rhetorical knowledge among student members and the Berry community. |
| Georgia Association of Educators-Special Programs (GAESP) | The GAESP is a division of the Georgia Association of Educators and is also connected with the national association. All those who plan to teach are invited to join the local chapter of GAESP. |
| Habitat for Humanity | The purpose of this chapter is to provide opportunities for its members to participate in all aspects of the work and ministry of Habitat for Humanity. |
| Heirway | This is a selected group of students that share the gospel of God through creative means, such as drama, music and testimony. |
| Honors Student Union | The purpose of this organization is the advancement of an academically challenging Honors Program, as well as the promotion of certain campus-wide events, i.e. forums, debates, and lectures, which are deemed beneficial to the student body as a whole. |
Hunger and Homelessness Outreach Programs and Education (HHOPE) |
HHOPE is committed to fight hunger and homelessness through a three-part course of action – Service, Education, and Activism – because they believe all people, locally and internationally, should have their basic needs met. |
| In His Name Gospel Choir | The purpose of In His Name Gospel Choir is to praise and worship God through music, dance, drama and spoken word, with an emphasis on the history and performance of gospel music. |
| International Club | Membership in the International Club is open to all students interested in promoting unity, fellowship and cultural exchange across campus and in the community. |
| Krannert Center Activities Board (KCAB) | KCAB plans and promotes a variety of social, recreational, and cultural activities for the entire campus community. Members are selected each spring through an application process, and the board participates in leadership training, planning and programming throughout the year. |
| Kappa Delta Pi | The purpose of Rho Upsilon Chapter of Kappa Delta Pi shall be to encourage high professional, intellectual, and personal standards to recognize and applaud outstanding contributions to education, to plan relevant professional interaction with academic and social issues, and to encourage communication. |
| Lambda Sigma Society – Alpha Mu Chapter | The purpose of Lambda Sigma is to foster leadership, scholarship, fellowship, spirit, and service among college students. Members will be selected to serve during their sophomore year. |
| Men’s Ensemble | Through this organization, Berry College men are provided an opportunity to develop their vocal music talents through rehearsal and training and perform for the Berry and Floyd County communities. |
| Middle Grades Association | The purpose of this organization is to bring together Middle Grades Education majors, provide professional development programs, and provide services for the community. |
| Model United Nations | This group seeks to develop a comprehensive knowledge of international affairs that teach valuable skills in leadership, communications, and diplomacy; promote an environment in which students can embrace other cultures, peoples, and benefits; and apply this knowledge to intercollegiate competitions. |
| Mu Epsilon Sigma | The purpose of this group shall be to bring together mathematics education majors and middle grades majors with a concentration in mathematics on a basis on mutual career goals and interests. |
| Omicron Delta Epsilon (ODE) – ETA Chapter | ETA is the campus chapter of ODE, the international honor society in economics. The purpose of this organization is to promote awareness of economics among members and the community. |
| Omicron Delta Kappa (ODK) | This national leadership honorary chapter recognizes junior and senior students who have attained a high academic record and have held leadership positions on campus. The purposes of this group are to recognize individuals for outstanding performance in collegiate activities and to bring together students, faculty and staff on a basis of mutual interest and understanding. |
| Orgullo – Pride in Hispanic Culture | The purpose of Orgullo is to promote awareness of Hispanic Culture through events and programs highlighting Hispanic achievements and to coordinate and sponsor events during Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15-October 15) |
| Phi Alpha Theta – Omicron-Epsilon Chapter | Phi Alpha Theta is an international honor society in history with members selected on the basis of excellence in the study or the writing of history. |
| Phi Kappa Phi | The primary purposes of Phi Kappa Phi are to promote the pursuit of excellence in all fields of higher education and to recognize outstanding achievement by students, faculty, and others through election to membership, and through various awards for distinguished achievement. |
| Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity | Phi Mu Alpha is a national professional music fraternity for men. |
| Philosophia Religioque | This organization’s purpose is to discuss topics within the realms of philosophy and religion in an open and relaxed forum. |
| Politics and Law Society (PALS) | The purposes of PALS is to create a supportive community among Government and International Studies students, to coordinate activities aimed at the pre-law and government community on campus, and to aid and educate persons interested in the field of law, government, or political science. |
| Presbyterian Student Fellowship (PSF) | PSF works to provide a better understanding of the Presbyterian faith through fellowship, mutual support, service to others, and to ultimately grow closer to God. |
| Pre-Vet Club | The purpose is to secure greater recognition for pre-veterinary medicine as an integral part of the school curriculum and to promote professional growth among its members. |
| Psi Chi | The purpose of Psi Chi honor society is to encourage and maintain excellence in scholarship of individual members in all fields, particularly in psychology. |
| Psychological Society | The Psychological Society works to promote an interest in the discipline, as a vehicle for personal growth and awareness, and to provide a forum for creative and original debate of a psychological nature. |
| Ramifications | Commonly referred to as RAM, this is the student-produced literary magazine that is published at the end of each fall and spring semester. |
| Rotaract Club | Affiliated with Rotary International, Rotaract provides an opportunity for young men and women to enhance the knowledge and skills that will assist them in personal development, to address the physical and social needs of their communities, and to promote better relations between all people worldwide through a framework of friendship and service. |
| Sigma Alpha Iota | SAI is a national professional music fraternity for women. |
| Sigma Delta Pi | Sigma Delta Pi is a national honor society in Spanish. This group encourages students to acquire a deeper understanding of Hispanic culture. |
| Society of Outdoor Life and Exploration (SOLE) | The purpose of SOLE is to promote outdoor recreation opportunities, increase awareness of the environment and appreciation of nature, and provide an outlet for outdoor enthusiasts to gather together for group experiences. |
| Society of Physics Students | The Berry College Chapter of the Society of Physics Students works towards the advancement and diffusion of knowledge in the area of physics, encourages student interest in physics throughout the college and local communities, and introduces students to professional communities. |
| Sociology & Anthropology Club (SAC) | The purpose of SAC is to inform the Berry community of issues in sociology and anthropology; to inform students of career opportunities and graduate school opportunities in the fields of sociology and anthropology; and to provide a community for students of sociology and anthropology and those interested in these fields. |
| Student Alumni Association (SAA) | SAA promotes student involvement with alumni programs. This organization helps facilitate communication between Berry alumni and students to help reach a common goal of serving the Berry community. |
| Student Government Association (SGA) | SGA serves as an intermediary for the consideration of college problems which are of vital interest to both the students and the faculty and staff ,while developing principles of democratic self-government and encouraging and promoting cooperation among faculty, staff, administration, and students. Students receive membership upon enrollment; voting privileges accompany elected representative positions. |
| Student Association for Inter-Religious Community (SAIC) | The role of the Student Association for Inter-religious Community is to provide a welcoming pluralistic atmosphere for Berry’s students, a forum for student expression of faith, a platform for student-organized events and exchanges, and a liaison between the Interfaith Council and student interest . |
| Students Against Violating the Earth (SAVE) | This organization’s purpose is to unite the Berry community with environmental concern and action. Several recycling projects are ongoing throughout the campus. |
| Swing Dance Association | The purpose of the Swing Dance Association is to increase the enthusiasm and awareness of swing dancing in the Berry College community and provide a way for students to get together and dance regularly. |
| Tangible Impact | The primary purpose of this campus chapter of Tangible Impact Incorporated is to participate in the growth and development of South Rome in Rome, GA and also outreach beyond the local community. This will be done through planning and volunteering for events, mentoring, and global trips. |
| Ultimate Frisbee Club | This organization seeks to develop skills and understanding of Ultimate Frisbee, be a positive representative of the students at Berry College, and apply these skills to intercollegiate competition. |
| Vikettes | The purpose of this organization is to promote school enthusiasm through dance, serve as a liaison between Berry College and the Rome community, entertain at school activities and provide extracurricular opportunities for interested female students at Berry College. |
| Viking Crew | The Viking Crew’s desire is to expand the sport of rowing through practice and competition. The club requires all crew members to become affiliated with the U.S. Rowing Association for insurance purposes. |
| Viking Fury | The purpose of the Viking Fury is to promote school spirit among the Berry College student body by supporting athletic events and events and special promotions for home and away games. |
| Viking Vision | Viking Vision is the student-run television station and includes newscasts, editorials, game shows, and other variety shows/entertainment. |
| Wesley Foundation | The purposes of Wesley are to create an environment stimulating growth and understanding of one’s belief through open discussion of contemporary concerns and issues, to be affiliated with the United Methodist Church at the local level, and to actively support Georgia Wesley Student Council through participation in state functions. The Wesley Foundation is open to all students of all religious backgrounds. |
| Winterguard | This organization allows those that are interested in Colorguard to be able to perform and compete in Winterguard activities. |
| Women’s Ensemble | The purpose of this organization is to provide the women of Berry College an opportunity to develop their vocal musical talents through repertoire selection, rehearsal, conducting and training; and to express those talents through performing to and entertaining the Berry College and Floyd County communities. |
| Young Democrats | This organization promotes the principles of the Democratic Party through speakers, meetings, and literature. |
