Course-Based Undergraduate Research Experiences Grant (CURE)

Left Nav

Faculty interested in developing new or existing courses that incorporate a significant research component are invited to submit an application for Course-based Undergraduate Research Experiences (CUREs) stipends.

CUREs have been one avenue to make research experiences available to more undergraduate students. They are typically designed to engage students through a semester-long project, where students are contributing to new knowledge in their field. This type of experience can be adapted to any discipline and faculty members from any discipline are encouraged to participate.

Eligibility Criteria

For existing courses, faculty would be expected to teach this course the following academic year. New courses may be taught within two years of receiving the stipend. Faculty should submit their application electronically to the Chair of their department. The Chair will submit it to the Dean of their school and the Dean’s Office will email the completed application to undergraduateresearch@berry.edu.

Special Requirements

The stipend will be awarded in two installments: half of the funds will be awarded at the end of the summer following course development and the other half will be given once the course has been taught and assessed. A small group of students from this course would be expected to present their work in a special session chaired by the faculty member during the Spring Student Symposium.

Award Amount – $1,250
Award Duration - 1 summer
Due Date – March 25, 2024
