Assistant Professor, Psychology
Dr. Deng is a counseling psychologist, graduated with a Ph.D. from Indiana University Bloomington and now working as an Assistant Professor of Psychology at Berry College.
Academically, Dr. Deng works on research around suicide among Asian/Asian Americans, positive psychology through the lens of gratitude and transcendence as well as cross-cultural mental health. Clinically, Dr. Deng is passionate about providing therapy and psychological services in Mandarin Chinese and English, using theories such as ACT, DBT, Compassion-focused Therapy and mindfulness. Dr. Deng is committed to serve historically marginalized populations and clients with diverse backgrounds, especially Asian/Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, international students, LGBTQ+ populations and people BIPOC in general.
Dr. Deng is multilingual, loves traveling and had lived/volunteered in Ohio, Iowa, Indiana, Utah and countries including France, Morocco, Thailand, Sri Lanka and Burma.
