Lecturer of Mathematics
Luke Fredericks is Visiting Assistant Professor of Mathematics at Berry College. He teaches Precalculus, Calculus, Abstract Algebra and Elementary Statistics. Dr. Fredericks has interests in inquiry based learning, mastery based grading and statistics education. His research background lies in the area of number theory, particularly the theory of elliptic curves. Dr. Fredericks is an avid cyclist and has completed several century rides. He also enjoys losing board games.
In his own path through Mathematics, Dr. Fredericks entered college at the level of pre-algebra. He worked his way up to calculus at which point he decided to become a math major. Ultimately, he earned a BS in Mathematics and a BA in French from California State University, Chico, and then went on to complete his Ph.D. at UC Irvine where he studied counting problems for elliptic curves over finite fields.
