Adjunct Faculty of the Physician Associate Program
Dr. Patrick Brandin is an adjunct professor for the clinical pharmacology courses as part of the Physician Associate Program at Berry College. He has been a practicing hospital pharmacist since graduating from the University of Georgia College of Pharmacy with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree in 2015.
After graduation, Dr. Brandin completed a PGY1 Pharmacy Residency program at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence, South Carolina. The program provided an additional year of licensed pharmacy training in multiple acute care patient populations and multiple pharmacy services at a community teaching hospital. His first professional experience after residency was as a staff pharmacist at Atrium Health Floyd Medical Center in Rome, GA, eventually working as a night shift pharmacist for almost seven years. In his role as a staffing pharmacist, he provided pharmaceutical care for patients of all ages and acuity levels and was involved in almost all aspects of pharmacy operations. Dr. Brandin now works as a clinical pharmacist at Atrium Health Floyd and helps manage anticoagulation, pharmacokinetic, and parenteral nutrition consults as well as daily monitoring of medications for cardiac step-down patients among others.
One of Dr. Brandin’s favorite aspects of hospital pharmacy is his interactions and collaboration with other healthcare workers. He is honored to be serving as an instructor and course director in the clinical pharmacology courses and looks forward to teaching medications from a pharmacist’s background to the next generation of physician associates.
