Archive Services

In order to provide users with efficient and supportive assistance, a variety of services are offered. Photocopying and scanning are available for a fee. Reference assistance pertaining to Archives collections is available via phone, mail, email and in-person visits. In addition, research can be initiated by making an appointment with the archivist.

REFERENCE

Reference assistance is available for e-mail, phone, mail and in-person requests. It is encouraged, but not required, to inform staff of research needs and in-person visits in advance in order to provide efficient and supportive assistance.

READING ROOM ASSISTANCE

Prior to starting in-person, on-site research, researchers will complete a Researcher Registration Form. This form contains guidelines for collections usage and must be signed and dated before archival materials are reviewed.

PHOTOCOPYING AND SCANNING

Archives staff will perform all photocopying and scanning of archival materials intended for research use or private study. In accordance with current copyright law, only one copy will be made of copyrighted materials, including manuscripts. Staff can copy an entire work only when permission is granted by the copyright owner. Staff reserves the right to refuse a copy request if it will violate copyright law or damage fragile materials. Photographs can be scanned to a specific file format, such as TIF or JPEG and the resulting files can be put onto a CD/DVD for a fee. The Archives staff will not provide graphic design assistance or photo image manipulation. Requests that involve scanning numerous photos will require a significant amount of staff time, so please plan accordingly. The Archives staff is not able to provide “rush” service for large duplication requests. Guidelines concerning document reproduction and copyright law information are posted at the front desk. See information regarding copying fees listed below.
