Music FACULTY
American soprano Indra Thomas is one of the most recognizable names in all of operatic singing. She has performed throughout the world with premiere opera companies and symphonies in the world’s greatest venues. She joins the music faculty of Berry College this fall.
The iconic Ford complex houses two floors entirely devoted to our music program—from state-of-the art piano and MIDI labs to a recording and editing studio to a vast music library. Three performance venues include the stunning Ford Auditorium.
Music Courses
Explore the music of Asia, Eastern cultures, Africa, South America, Europe and Australia—as well as the development such American musical forms as jazz and pop.
Practice and refine your craft in this chamber vocal ensemble of mixed voices. Limited to 24 participants, Berry Singers presents a variety of choral art best suited to small ensemble.
Gain a broad understanding of the music industry—including management, sales and promotion, publishing, instrument manufacturing, the recording industry, legal and financial services, retailing and wholesaling. Includes field trips.
Whatever your taste in music—classical, opera, jazz or contemporary—you’ll find it at Berry. Over 40 performances take place every year, featuring choral and vocal ensembles as well as the symphony orchestra, instrumental ensembles and chamber groups.
Music LIVES
Kenny Morgan’s only musical experience before Berry was belting out show tunes in his car. But thanks to a caring voice teacher, he’s pursuing a Master of Music in vocal performance with a concentration in music theatre at New York University Steinhardt.
Though talented, Kenny didn't have technical knowledge of music or music theory. Enter Lecturer of Music Ruth Baker: the mentor who would change his life. Weekly vocal lessons with Baker took Kenny’s raw, untrained voice to the next level, transforming him into one of the most successful vocal performance majors at Berry.
