Does a minor make a major difference? Definitely! Adding the musical theatre minor to a major in music or theatre results in an experience similar to that of a BFA in theatre performance. Combining a music minor with a major in any field will enrich your education artistically and add up professionally. For example, music paired with psychology might lead to a career in music therapy. Combining music and history might inspire a career in musicology. Music and public relations integrate well for positions in arts marketing.

What’s the added value to any dedicated study of music? You reap marketable skills across disciplines in creative and analytical thinking, time management, cognitive reasoning, language development and emotional capacity.

All Musical Theatre minors must take THE 200 (Theatre Practicum), as applied to the main stage musical, at least twice before graduation. Students take 12 hours of elective coursework from within the Music, Theatre, and Dance disciplines as indicated by their Major discipline.
