Sustainability at Berry College

At Berry College, sustainability is a daily practice rooted in our values of stewardship, innovation, and community. Recognized as one of The Princeton Review’s “Green Colleges,” Berry is committed to integrating environmental responsibility into campus operations, student learning, and land management across our 27,000 acres.

Our initiatives span energy efficiency, responsible land and water use, sustainable technology, and hands-on learning. Through partnerships with students, faculty, staff, and community organizations, Berry fosters a living laboratory where ideas become action.

Our Vision for the Future

At Berry College, we envision a future where sustainability and stewardship are woven into every aspect of campus life — setting a standard for environmental innovation, education, and community care. Building on our strong foundation, we are committed to expanding initiatives such as campus-wide composting in collaboration with local organizations and transitioning to energy-efficient climate systems that reduce our carbon footprint.

We are also working to restore native ecosystems, such as the Longleaf Pine ecosystem. These efforts will strengthen campus biodiversity and create healthier, more resilient landscapes for students, faculty, staff and local wildlife.
