Michael McElveenMichael McElveen, EdD
Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs

Michael McElveen is the Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs at Berry College, serving as the institution’s chief student affairs officer. He holds a Doctor of Education in Higher Education Leadership and Practice and has 20 years of experience in postsecondary education. He contributes to the field as a member of the editorial board for the Journal of Student Affairs Research and Practice and the Recreational Sports Journal. His research explores student success, campus climate and safety, and strategies for expanding access to educational resources. Beyond his professional work, Michael is deeply committed to community health, serving on the local county board of health and on the board of Highland Rivers Behavioral Health, one of Georgia’s largest behavioral health providers.

Christian WellsChristian Wells, PhD
Dean of Students

Dr. Christian Wells has over seventeen years of experience in Housing and Residence Life and Student Affairs. Dr. Wells joins us from Wesleyan College as the Assistant Dean of Students and Director of Residence Life. Before her time at Wesleyan College, she served as an Associate Director of Housing and Residence Life at Mercer University. She has also worked at Oglethorpe University and the University of North Florida in Housing and Residence Life. She has extensive experience in training student and professional staff, crisis management, student conduct, Title IX and professional development.

Dr. Wells earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Spanish from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (Chattanooga, TN), a Master of Science- College Student Personnel Services and Administration from the University of Central Arkansas (Conway, AR) and a Ph.D. in Higher Educational Leadership from Mercer University. Dr. Wells has served as President of the Georgia Housing Officers (GHO) and been the Chair for the Professional Development Committee for the Southeastern Association of Housing Officers (SEAHO).

Lindsay NormanLindsay Norman
Associate Dean of Students

Lindsay Norman is the Associate Dean of Students at Berry College, where she oversees student conduct, care team and student support, Student Government (SGA) and staff within the Office of Student Involvement. With over 15 years of experience working in higher education, she is committed to supporting students, faculty and staff through complex challenges with an emphasis on care, accountability and learning. A Berry College alumna, Lindsay holds a master’s degree in College Student Development from Appalachian State University and lives on campus with her family. Outside of work, she enjoys crafting, sending over 250 pieces of old-school snail mail each year and traveling with a sense of curiosity for new places and cultures.

Jodi ZagrabelnyJodi Zagrabelny
Executive Assistant

Jodi Zagrabelny is the Executive Assistant for Student Affairs with a background in human resources. She holds a bachelor’s degree in business management from the University of Minnesota. Adept at and appreciative of organization and efficiency, Jodi brings strong communication, collaboration, and management skills to the Student Affairs division. In addition to her professional career, Jodi homeschooled her four sons, designs and crafts her own jewelry, roasts her own coffee and finds time to enjoy various outdoor activities.
