Prospective Students
Incoming students can schedule an informational meeting with a representative from our office. Please contact us at testing@berry.edu or 706.233.4080. We are available to connect via phone, email, virtual meetings or in-person during your scheduled campus visit.
We utilize a 3-step interactive process to determine the reasonable accommodations for each student. Feel free to reach out to our office to learn more about how we can support you.
General Questions
Our office is open Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm. We are closed on weekends and official college holidays.
The Testing Center if reserved for students with testing accommodations. Please discuss your best options for making up your exam with your instructor.
Students have the option of appealing decisions about accommodations made by the Office of Accessibility Resources.
Academic Accommodations
Exam requests must be submitted three business days prior to the exam; however, students are welcomed and encouraged to submit their requests as early in the semester as they would like.
You must receive approval from your professor before filling out the test request form if testing outside of class time. After you receive their approval, indicate the time your professor approved you to reserve a seat in the ASC on the test request form.
The ASC cannot approve late exam requests. The above timeline is critical, as it takes time to work with your faculty to ensure we have your exam and can administer it to your faculty’s specifications. If you have missed the deadline for your exam request, please reach out to your professor about alternative testing options.
You will receive an email from notify@quickbase.com with the subject “Testing Accommodations Request Update” two business days before your exam.
Ask your professor if it’s ok to take your exam a little earlier than the class.
For example: You have an exam in your 9am class, but also have a class at 10am. See the table below to understand how much time you are entitled to so you ensure to schedule appropriately.
Note: It is your responsibility to ensure you have enough time to test with your extended or double time. The ASC will not provide an excuse for an absence or tardy.
Requests to test outside of business hours cannot be accommodated. We are happy to work with you and your faculty member if you are taking an exam scheduled outside of these hours.
Only materials that your professor has indicated on your exam approval form will be allowed in the testing center. Non-essential items (including smart watches) must be left in the cubbies in our lobby.
Dining Accommodations
The dining committee will review all requests for a meal plan alteration two weeks prior to the beginning of the semester. Requests initiated after this date will be considered, but may not be accommodated until the following semester.
Berry College Dining Services offers gluten free meals in the Dining Hall. We encourage students to connect with the Dining Services team to learn more about what is offered prior to submitting a request for a dining accommodation.
Housing Accommodations
Animals are not allowed on campus unless approved as an accommodation. Residence Life will ask that you remove any animals not approved to live on campus, as you are in violation of your housing contract.
The housing committee reviews requests for accommodations during the second and fourth weeks of each month during the academic year. During the summer, the committee will meet at least once a month. Students will receive email notifications from the Office of Accessibility Resources within 2 business days after the housing committee has made its decision.
