Berry College’s largest class in history to graduate in May

Berry College’s largest class – 533 students – will graduate this May.

Commencement for graduate students will be at 7 p.m. May 5 in the College Chapel. Undergraduate commencement will be at 9 a.m. May 6 on the south lawn of Evans Building. The graduates will be taking home 64 master degrees and 472 bachelor degrees.  

The featured speaker is Berry alum and highly decorated Rear Adm. Vincent L. Griffith, Director of Defense Logistics Agency Logistics Operations. He oversees the daily operation of field activities in supporting 2,400 weapon systems and engages customers around the world to maximize readiness and logistics combat power.

Prior to his current position, Griffith served as Commander, Naval Supply Systems Command Global Logistics Support, where he was responsible for providing an extensive array of integrated global logistics and contracting services to Navy and joint operational units.  

Griffith has served in several sea tours, including a submarine, USS Stonewall Jackson, and two aircraft carriers, the USS Saratoga and USS John C. Stennis. His awards include the Defense Superior Service Medal, three Legions of Merit, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, three Meritorious Service Medals, five Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal and Expert Rifle and Pistol Medal.  

Griffith graduated from Berry in 1981 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. He was commissioned in 1982 through Officer Candidate School in the Navy Supply Corps. He received a master of business administration degree from George Washington University, and completed Emory University's Goizueta Graduate School of Management's Advanced Executive Business Program and the Navy Corporate Business Course at University of Virginia, Darden School of Business.
