Moon Gallery exhibition

“Utility” focuses on functional work in ceramics. Artists from across the country submitted pieces designed for practical use to be evaluated and chosen by the exhibition juror, Heather Mae Erickson. Based on her experience and expertise in functional ceramics, Erickson chose work from 10 artists to be displayed.

The artists are: University of Wisconsin-Parkside professor Lisa Marie Barber, University of Cincinnati senior Melanie Brown, University of Memphis graduate student Rachel Davis, University of North Georgia Art Professor Jennifer Graff, University of Washington recent graduate S. Lantz, University of Alabama Assistant Professor Wade MacDonald, University of Florida MFA candidate Aimee Marcinko, studio potter/owner Mark Oehler, Delaware State University Visiting Assistant Professor Heather Ossandon and West Alabama ceramics professor Jessica Smith.

Erickson, artist and assistant professor of undergraduate and graduate ceramics at Western Carolina University, has received awards from the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Korean International Ceramic Biennale, among others. Her work has been shown in exhibitions around the world and represented in many collections and galleries. She has held residency at prestigious art institutions like the Archie Bray Foundation and The Clay Studio in Philadelphia.

The Moon Gallery is closed to the public due to COVID-19 protocols. To view the exhibition, visit https://www.berry.edu/academics/majors/art/moon-gallery/curent-exhibition.
