Artist Lakesha Moore brought her “Infinite Rays of Joy” exhibition to Berry College’s Moon Gallery recently for display.
Moore, a Tennessee State University assistant professor, highlights the dreams, realities, culture, ancestral origin, and location of her subjects through painting. The notable elements of the exhibit’s style are a contrast between light and dark, of calm and strength.
A native of Nashville, Tenn., Moore studied art and education extensively in the mainland U.S. and Virgin Islands. She earned a bachelor’s degree in art and a master’s in painting from Washington University in St. Louis and University of Tennessee respectively.
“My works summons the history and memories of my subjects,” Moore says on her website. “Through portrait paintings they are free to tell their own stories.”
