Polar Explorer and Adventurer to Speak at Berry

Ann Daniels, who has been lauded as one of Britain’s greatest adventurers of all time, will speak Oct. 2 at Berry College.

The speech is free and open to the public and will begin at 7 p.m. in the Cage Center Arena.

Daniels is a world record holder and one of the first women in history to reach the North and South Poles as part of all women teams. She has explored both the North and South Poles extensively, having led teams over 2,000 miles in temperatures as low as negative 58 degrees Fahrenheit. She has completed over 10 polar expeditions and, in all, has spent more than a year's worth of time on the ice.

As part of her expeditions, Daniels has worked with NASA, the European Space Agency and many other scientific institutions to collect data on the Poles. She is planning a 2025 expedition called “The Last Ice Sentinels” to document the multi-year ice on the Arctic Ocean.

Also a mother to four children, Daniels is regularly asked to speak on leadership, motivation and overcoming challenges in an ever-changing world. As a Polar guide and leader of 4 major scientific Arctic surveys, she is living proof that good leadership, teamwork and a positive mental attitude does make a difference to the success of a team.

This event is made possible by the Conson Wilson Lecture Series which frequently welcomes internationally-known speakers to Berry.
