Amber Grace Holds Groundbreaking and Dedication

The founding of a new residential development for adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD), called Amber Grace, was celebrated on the evening of May 22nd. Located on the Berry College campus, this unique community will provide appropriately supported housing and enrichment programs for these adults, as well as promoting meaningful vocational and service positions as viable contributors to their community.

“We are thrilled to offer such a valuable and necessary service to adults with mild IDD, whom we call Neighbors,” said Debbie Turner, co-founder of the community, along with her husband, David. Because the Turners have an adult daughter with Down Syndrome, they have a firsthand understanding of the challenges faced when trying to create a full and abundant life for such adults.

“As we age ourselves, we are reminded we will not always be here to care for our daughter,” David said, “but the Amber Grace community will be here, which gives us incredible comfort. We hope this community will provide the same comfort to the parents who entrust their adult child to our care.”

Amber Grace, a privately held, non-profit organization founded in 2020 by the Turners, is a faith-based entity whose mission and values are based on John 10:10. Its mission reads: To cultivate a Christ-led Abundant Life for every Neighbor, their Families and the Communities we serve.

The community is located at 2277 Martha Berry Hwy, Mt. Berry, GA 30149.
