Martha Berry’s House O’ Dreams Open House

Oak Hill & the Martha Berry Museum is excited to once again host an open house event at the House O’ Dreams on Saturday, November 7th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.!

The House O’ Dreams was constructed in 1922 by staff and students as a gift to Martha Berry for the Berry School’s 20th anniversary. It was intended to be a mountain getaway for Miss Berry and any guests of hers. It is still used today for “dreaming” sessions by Berry faculty, staff and student groups.

Throughout the day, visitors will be able to explore the site and enter the House o’ Dreams itself, with guides available to provide historical information about the cottage and grounds. As the House o’ Dreams is located up a steep mountain road, tickets are available for a dedicated shuttle that will transport guests to and from the House o’ Dreams throughout the day. Visitors can also hike up to the House O’ Dreams and participate in the open house at no cost.

Tickets for the shuttle are $18 per guest and $12 for Berry students, faculty, staff and alumni. Because shuttle capacity is limited, advance reservations are required and tickets are expected to sell out. Shuttles will run every 45 minutes starting at 10 a.m. and ending at 2:30 p.m. Parking and shuttle location details will be provided to registered guests before the event. Purchase your tickets online at: https://berry.ticketspice.com/house-o-dreams-open-house.

Due to limited accessibility at the House O’ Dreams, visitors with accessibility concerns are encouraged to contact the Martha Berry Museum in advance for assistance. Please note that neither pets nor open food and beverages are permitted on the shuttles or inside the house.

Join us in experiencing the rich history of the House O’ Dreams as we explore Martha Berry’s favorite mountaintop retreat!
