The Berry College Theatre Company presents “She Kills Monsters” at the Sisters Theatre Jan. 29 to Feb. 1.
Set in the 1990s, the comedic story follows Agnes Evans, an ordinary high school teacher who discovers her late-sister Tilly’s Dungeons and Dragons notebook. In an attempt to understand the sister she never truly knew, Agnes embarks on an epic quest through Tilly’s imagined world — filled with mythical creatures, fierce warriors and surprising truths about identity, love and acceptance. The play is by Qui Nguyen.
“It’s a love letter to anyone who’s ever felt like an outsider,” said Christine Fuchs, director of the production. “Nguyen’s play reminds us that sometimes, we discover courage not in the real world, but in the worlds we create together.”
Tickets are $10. The performances will be at 7 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday. The production is appropriate for ages 13 and older due to strong language and adult themes.
“She Kills Monsters” is presented by special arrangement with Concord Theatricals on behalf of Samuel French, Inc.
