The Rome Tennis Center at Berry College has been named a 2025 Outstanding Facility Award winner by the USTA, marking the second time the facility has received the honor.
The USTA presented the award to 45 tennis facilities nationwide at a reception during the U.S. Open at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York.
The facility first earned the Outstanding Facility Award in 2019. Since then, the Rome Tennis Center at Berry College has made several enhancements, including a Top Spin Terrace viewing deck, new tennis nets and patio furniture and upgraded wireless capabilities for vendors and live streaming services. In 2021, Berry constructed an adjacent Fairfield Inn and Suites, providing direct access to the tennis facility for coaches, players and guests.
With 57 courts on a 30-acre site, including 51 outdoor courts and six indoor courts, the Rome Tennis Center at Berry College is among the largest tennis facilities in the United States. The facility hosts tournaments and events most weekends throughout the year, from local junior competitions to national and professional events. The tennis program, operated by Cliff Drysdale Tennis, features daily programming including junior development, beginner classes, leagues and advanced clinics for all skill levels and ages.
The USTA judged facilities on overall layout and site adaptation, excellence of court surface and lights, ease of maintenance, accommodations for players, spectators and officials, aesthetics, graphics including signage and landscaping, amenities such as seating and food services and participation in grassroots tennis programs.
