Grace Eckstein ’22 chose Berry because she wanted to be a nurse — and she felt at home the minute she passed through the campus gates. Her career choice was confirmed by experiences in Berry’s state-of-the-art nursing simulation lab where she worked as the student supervisor. “My team and I were in charge of setting up and running the senior skills and simulations alongside our professors,” she says. “We also helped in all family (labor and delivery, pediatrics and neonatal intensive care unit) simulations.”
This hands-on work reinforced Grace’s decision to become an ER nurse: “The patients who come into the ER are like human puzzles, and it is our job to put them back together again. Even though the nurses in the ER don’t have their patients for very long, they are still able to develop valuable and trusting relationships.”
Grace accepted a position as a registered nurse in the emergency department at Piedmont Cartersville Medical Center.
