Energy Star

WHAT IS ENERGY STAR?

In 1992, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy created the Energy Star program and logo to help identify and promote energy-efficient appliances. The logo can be found on various major appliances such as washing machines, refrigerators, and dishwashers, as well as lighting units, office equipment and home electronics.

After Berry signed the President’s Climate Commitment, it became our policy to purchase Energy Star appliances whenever practical. For example, the Cage Center has new Energy Star flat-screen televisions in its classrooms, campus dormitory laundry facilities include Energy Star washing machines, and computer labs and offices are supplied with Energy Star printers and copiers.
