As our students and alumni well know, Berry is consistently found among the rankings of the country’s most beautiful colleges by Travel+Leisure, Buzzfeed, Thrillist and Southern Living. Filmmakers use our stunning vistas of mountains, lakes, forests, fields and architecture as well.


 

2022 - Netflix's "Stranger Things" Season 4 filmed at the Ford buildings which stood in for Pennhurst Mental Hospital. In episode four Nancy and Robin go to the hospital to speak with Victor Creel and take a tour.

2019 - The Real Housewives of Atlanta spin-off series "Don't be Tardy" showed Kim Zolciak's daughter touring Berry College. In season 7, episode 4 the Biermann family went on a college tour with their 16-year-old daughter, Arianna. The show featured the Morton Lemley residence hall and Sisters Theatre.


2018 - The Oxygen Network series "Price of Duty" filmed an episode that featured a cold case involving a Berry alum and former police detective. Parts of the episode were filmed at the William R. Bowdoin Baseball Field and Ford buildings.

2018- The Discovery Channel series "Road Trip Masters" toured Rome and included Berry's campus, as well as a drive up Lavender Mountain to the House O'Dreams.


2015 - ABC Studios pilot "Kingmakers" followed a young man who goes undercover at an Ivy League university in search of his sister's murderer. It was filmed at the Ford buildings and starred Parminder Nagra and Adrian Pasdar.

2014 - The NBC series “Constantine” was filmed at the scenic Old Mill, the Ford buildings and on the main campus near Victory Lake. Starring Matt Ryan, the DC Comics storyline is about a man struggling with his faith who is haunted by the sins of his past. Later, he is suddenly thrust into the role of defending humanity from the gathering forces of darkness. 


2014 - “Edgar Allen Poe’s Mystery Theatre” was filmed at the Ford buildings and broadcast on Georgia Public Television.

2013 - The FOX hit series “The Following” was filmed at the Campbell School of Business and the Charter School of Education and Human Sciences. A brilliant and charismatic, yet psychotic serial killer communicates with other active serial killers and activates a cult of believers following his every command. It starred Kevin Bacon and James Purefoy.


2013 - Episodes of Tyler Perry’s "The Haves and The Have Nots” was filmed at Oak Hill, the home of founder Martha Berry. Centers on the rich Cryer and Harrington families (The Haves) and the poor Young family (The Have Nots) whose lives intertwine when Hanna Young starts working for the Cryers. It starred Tika Sumpter and John Schneider.

2005 - “The Sugar Creek Gang Teacher Trouble” was filmed at Possum Trot, the cradle of Berry College.

 


2002 - The classic romantic film “Sweet Home Alabama” was shot at Oak Hill.  A young woman who's reinvented herself as a New York City socialite must return home to Alabama to obtain a divorce from her husband, after seven years of separation. The hit movie starred Reese Witherspoon and Patrick Dempsey.

2001 - “Heaven Must Wait” was filmed at the Berry College President’s house and Oak Hill. Raymond, just fired again, inherits a church in an English village. Arriving from Georgia to sell the property to Mr. Slee, he meets the cute single Rachel, who runs the B&B, and others. Hidden treasure? It starred Andrew McCarthy.


2000 - Football favorite “Remember the Titans” was filmed at the Ford Buildings, the Old Mill, Oak Hill and various locations in the Berry forest. The true story of a newly appointed African-American coach and his high school team on their first season as a racially integrated unit. It featured Denzel Washington.

1993 - “Class of ‘61” used the Ford Buildings as a location shoot. Three West Point 1861 generation cadets and friends go on opposite sides after the breakout of The Civil War, with tragic consequences. It stars Christien Anholt and Andre Braugher.


1991 - “Dutch” was filmed at Thomas Berry residence hall and Memorial Library. To get to know his girlfriend's son, a working-class good guy volunteers to pick him up from a prep school, only to learn that her son isn't the nicest kid, starring Ed O'Neill.

1991 - “Perfect Harmony” was filmed at the Ford Buildings and Frost Chapel. In a private school in the U.S. South, Mr. Sanders, a new choirmaster tries to reduce some of the prejudice and hostility of some of the students in his choir. It starred Peter Scolari and Darren McGavin.


1979 - “Double McGuffin” was filmed at Thomas Berry and Morton residence halls. Some school kids stumble across a briefcase full of money, when they go back for it, they find a body instead. Stars included Ernest Borgnine, narrated by Orson Welles.
