2023 Trumpet Festival of the Southeast at Berry

Berry College hosted the 2023 Trumpet Festival of the Southeast from Jan. 13 through Jan. 15 at the Ford complex.

The Trumpet Festival of the Southeast is an annual trumpet celebration that invites students, educators, and trumpet enthusiasts together to celebrate the love of trumpets. Typical festival events include concerts, masterclasses, music sessions, and industry vendors.

Berry has not hosted the Trumpet Festival of the Southeast since 2013. The festival rotates across different Southeastern college campuses.

On the first day the Boston Brass performed in the Bell Recital Hall as a segment of Berry College’s Concert Series II. Boston Brass has created a one-of-a-kind musical experience ever since 1986, displaying vibrant classical arrangements, blazing jazz standards and original brass repertoire. They introduce a unique brand of musical entertainment to audiences that tie in classical formality. This is done to increase excitement and fun for standard concertgoers and newcomers. The group has performed in all 50 states and over 30 countries.

The next day Scott Belck and the All-South Jazz performed in the Bell Recital Hall. Belck is a professor of music and director of jazz studies at the University of Cincinnati’s College Conservatory of Music. At the conservatory, he directs the CCM Jazz Orchestra and teaches applied jazz trumpet courses. Belck is a member of the acclaimed Tromba Mundi contemporary trumpet ensemble and also has been on tour with Grammy Award-winning funk star, Booty Collins & The Funk Unity Band, as lead trumpet.
