Berry College is constantly making an effort to improve the energy performance of buildings through phased life cycle retrofits:
Double-Paned Windows
Berry improves the energy efficiency of campus buildings by installing double-paned windows whenever windows are replaced as part of regular life-cycle maintenance.
Green New Construction
The newly constructed health sciences building, Morgan-Bailey Hall, features underground stormwater infrastructure, water-saving fixtures and an energy-efficient building design.
Heating and Cooling
Berry is actively working to reduce heating/cooling needs; recent retrofits were installed in Thomas Berry and Evans Halls.
HVAC Upgrades
Energy-efficient systems were installed across campus during building remodels. Most recently, this included updates to the HVAC system in the historic Evans Hall.
LED Lighting
Motion-activated and timer-controlled LEDs now illuminate much of the campus.
Solar Energy
Berry is exploring the feasibility of renewable energy investments through the installation of a 30-acre solar array (leased by Inman Solar), which sells renewable energy to Georgia Power.
