James T. Douglas, M.D.
Medical Director
Dr. James Douglas is Board Certified by the American Academy of Family Practice. He completed a fellowship in OB after his residency which distinguishes him from his peers. Since 1995 his private practice has been located just 4 miles from Berry College at N.W. Georgia Medical Clinic Family Medicine and Obstetrics. He is available by phone 24/7 and spends a minimum of two hours weekly at The Health providing oversight and medical supervision.
Lauren Wehunt, DNP, FNP-C
Health Center Director
Dr. Lauren Wehunt earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2010, Master of Science in Nursing – Family Nurse Practitioner in 2017, and Doctor of Nursing Practice in 2019 from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She also holds a Certificate of Teaching in Nursing from UAB. Dr. Wehunt currently serves as Director of Health Services at Berry College, where she oversees the campus health center, manages clinical operations, and ensures the delivery of high-quality healthcare services to students. In addition to her administrative responsibilities, she provides direct patient care as a provider, addressing a wide range of health needs and promoting wellness across the campus community. Outside of her professional roles, Lauren enjoys spending time with her husband, Nathan, and their son, Graham. Lauren is also an adjunct instructor with the Berry College Department of Nursing, where she shares her expertise and mentors future nurses.
Rebecca Hensley, CMA
Health Center Assistant Director
As a dedicated Certified Medical Assistant, Rebecca has proudly served at the Berry College Health Center since 2020. In her role, she supports fellow healthcare professionals in providing high-quality, compassionate care to students. As Assistant Director, she mentors the Health Center's student work team, fostering collaboration and guiding student workers through meaningful, hands-on learning experiences. Beyond her clinical responsibilities, Rebecca is passionate about student well-being and community health promotion. She believes healthcare extends beyond treatment, emphasizing prevention, education, and empowering individuals to make informed decisions about their health.
The Health Center is proud to provide campus job opportunities for our student workers that include staff and leadership positions. Student workers assist with scheduling appointments, check-in, vital signs, triage, point of care testing, and cleaning exam rooms. Leadership positions include clinic and outreach management.
